Travel does not have to be a race between landmarks. Staying longer in one place gives you the chance to notice its small rituals: the morning market, the changing light, the smell of dinner being prepared.
Kerala's backwaters offer a wonderful excuse to slow down. Choose a local stay, try regional cooking, and make time for a quiet walk along the water.
A slower itinerary also gives you room for flexibility. Plan one meaningful experience each day rather than filling every hour. Ask your hosts what they enjoy about their own neighbourhood.
The goal is not to see less. It is to notice more.
